'swallowheart, you may hunt or rest in camp. perhaps take that apprentice of yours to the training, starclan knows he needs it.' the old tom meowed with a light tease in his higher then normal for tom's voice. the brown she-cat that mirrored him with eyes and face, rolled her eyes and padded away, tail flicking in annoyance and amusement. 'don't forget to bring me that flinch you owe me.' he meowed in a light amused tone, to which his sister had meowed back;
many asked if he was blind, no, he was simply limited in his ability to see through the eyes. as he could see almost 75% of the things with his lazy eye. but those teal blue eyes were nothing compared to his petite feminine body and higher pitched voice. many who met him at first always seem to have the thought of female in their mind; but the scent and physical aspects of a male cat show prompt on his form and scent and thus they change their aspects of him. 'right. leader duties, maybe i should take ferretface and badgerpaw on border patrol.' he meowed out loud, eyes catching sight of the apprentice and mentor duo. leaping from the rock with the grace gifted to him by his petite form, he padded across camp with his head and tail high and meowed to the two. 'care to join an old tom on border patrol?' When the two cats nodded and finished their prey, owlstar turned to his deputy who was sitting beside his own apprentice and meowed quite loudly; 'i am on border patrol, keep the clan in order.'
paws padding forward owlstar slipped from the den with his head up and eyes shinning brightly. pale silver-white paws picked their way through rocky terrain as he and ferretface questioned the much younger she-cat badgerpaw on her knowledge of the territory. owlstar remembered making the she-cat an apprentice and thinking that at first glance ferretface would balance the shy little pixie out. what he hadn't expected was to see the two grow attach to each other, and if owlstar could pinpoint the moment their partner ship turned from simply business, mentor and apprentice - to romantic, it would be around the time badgerpaw had turned eleven moons old. the she-cat was thirteen moons old and hadn't yet felt ready to become a warrior. owlstar could understand the she-cats worries, and thus had encouraged ferretface to keep her as his apprentice for a bit longer.
ferretface had listened, and owlstar felt something akin to happiness for his former apprentice. 'look waterclan warriors at the border.' hissed ferretface, and owlstar's eyes widen as he realized the whole trip from camp to border had been day-dreaming of the other two cat's romantic problems. his paws froze as his whiskers twitched and bowed to the waterclan warrior and his apprentice. 'greetings. i hope the prey is running well, ferretface, badgerpaw let us continue our patrol, these fine warriors would not cross our borders... they are simply doing as we are, isn't that right darkpelt.' owlstar watched the other tom, a good friend of his, nod and nudge his apprentice the opposite way the rockclan cats were heading. a purr rumbled through owlstar as the distant sounds of the apprentice meowing that he could of taken all of them.
apprentices these days, honestly.[/ul]
